Restaurant technology, explained plainly

QR ordering, digital menus, POS systems and kitchen displays — what each one actually does, what it costs, and how to tell whether your restaurant needs it yet.

Restaurant software is sold on features and bought on fear of falling behind, which is why so many kitchens have a system nobody uses past the billing screen. The useful question is never "is this modern" but "which specific thing that goes wrong in my restaurant does this stop" — and if there is no clear answer, the honest recommendation is to skip it.

Worth knowing before you buy: what a POS should actually cost in India and what the per-terminal pricing hides, why a digital menu is a different decision from QR ordering even though they arrive together, and what happens to your data if you want to leave. Lock-in is the cost that never appears on the quote.

We build restaurant software, so treat these guides accordingly — but they are written to be useful whether or not you ever use DinePilot, including the parts where the answer is that you do not need the thing yet.

Digital Menu vs Printed Menu: An Honest Comparison

Digital menus get sold as obviously better and printed menus get defended as obviously warmer. Both are wrong. The right answer depends on how often your prices move and how your room actually feels.
